Monster

Alas, my Christmas haul of movie money is gone. It t'was a sad sad night. Movie of choice: Monster. Maybe not the best film to spend your last movie dollars on, but hey, everyone makes mistakes. Right? Don't get me wrong though, it was a good movie and well done, but it was a tad depressing and a little disturbing. Nothing a bag of Nibs couldn't cure though. Speaking of which, does anyone else ever get a specific cramp when they go to the cinema?? Everytime I get a bag of Nibs and plunk down in those not-so-ergonomically-correct chairs, I always end up with this cramp that I only ever get when I eat Nibs at the theater. Yet, I buy Nibs every time I go. Usually because I never finish them and then get to eat the remaining ones for breakfast the next morning. Anywho, back to the movie. It is based on true story about a girl who never knew love and ends up falling for Selby (Christina Ricci). A lot of it is about their relationship and how Selby gets manipulated along by Lee. Lee is a hooker of many years, and after getting raped, resides to murdering men to make her money. Quite a sad and tragic story on both sides, but all roles are played very well and convincing. Definitely worth a watch, but if you have movie money, save it for something else a little more upbeat. This one's a renter.
